Long Case Grandfather Clock.

Scottish Drum Head Grandfather Clock Jn & William Mitchell – Glasgow. 1833-1898.  Mid 19th century longcase grandfather clock. The bell striking brass movement with cream Painted Roman numeral dial with subsidiary calendar and signed with makers name and town to the centre.  Exceptional carving on the case hood. The case is of unusual tapering shape and moulded door on a square base with recessed panel resting on bun feet. Drum head clocks were made by Scottish Clock Makers with a drum dome to commemorate the Scottish drummers who were in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
